Expected results: This project has been established to enable the UNDP Laos Country Office to receive funds from the UNDP Bureau of Crises Prevention and Recovery - Thematic Trust Fund (BCPR TTF) to provide UNDP assistance and new cost sharing contributions. This project will provide addtional funding mechanisms for the partners to channel their contributions to UXO activities in Lao PDR.

Expected results: This initiation plan is aimed at supporting the Government of Lao PDR in continuing the important National Disaster Management Planning Process, while a more comprehensive project is being developed to assist the GoL with addressing some of the key disaster risk management capacity issues. The Plan also supports the GoL's early recovery activities for the flood (August 2008) affected people, as Joint Appeal has been made for such intiatives.

Expected results: The project will primarily support the function of the UN Resident Coordinator (RC) in Lao PDR to effectively coordinate the emergency response and recovery efforts.
